Colombia, Neuvo Futuro 250g – 1KG
Nuevo Futuro is a coffee farmer association in the Caucu region of Colombia. Luz Elva Chacon is the dynamic and inspiring leader of Nuevo Futuro. The group consist of 550 smallholder farmers producing coffees within 7 sub-regions of Cauca. The group is built around clear principles and values that require collaboration and commitment from their members. Because families are spread out over seven municipalities, they have organised themselves into local boards that meet every other month at a different farm. Because they have limited resources, they rely on each other for technical assistance, practicing a "farmer to farmer" training. Most of the farmers are organic certified producing Colombia, Catarrh and Castillo varietals.
As a mixed coffee, these lots produce 84-85 point coffees with great complexity and body with citrus fruits and a sweet finish. The quality shone through on the cupping table with red cherry, orange, vanilla with a caramel biscuit and milk chocolate body in the cup.
